Update on my “Anti-Perfectionism” Game

by Trish

So, back about a month ago, in this post, I gave out a challenge for anyone that wanted to join our attempt in the next six months (October 15-April 15) to sell a book project.

How are you doing?

I am doing well. I am continually inspired by the exceptional programming given out in the Western Washington chapter of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and I think that’s been a boon to me attempting to get something out the door, and to quit hiding in my perfectionism.

I am writing on several projects and accelerating my progress nicely. It’s been a good push to put my writing projects near to the top of my priority list rather than allowing my creativity to happen in those few free moments in between everything else! I’m participating in Nanowrimo this year. Are you? I can’t wait. November is a perfect month to ignore the world and get a bucket load of words on the page. It’s so close I can’t believe we start next week!

I love to write. I get a massive boost of energy by writing kid’s books. It’s my favorite creative thing. I have many favorite other things I write because of my day job as a marketer and promoter, but when everyone goes away and I am left to my own devices, I read YA and MG novels by the pile and I write them now as well.

So . . . that’s what happening around here! Now that the rainy season has really settled into the Seattle area, you can be sure I am tucked in with my laptop under a blanket and either reading or writing. I’m preparing to submit by the end of the year!

I’ll keep you posted as we get closer!

Anyone else wanna play?
