About

I appreciate you stopping by! Follow me on Twitter! Click here.

I was born to write . . . {a blog}. It seems very entrepreneurial, which fits my personality. From teaching piano, babysitting, and cleaning houses to selling lemonade, life insurance, magazine subscriptions, and candy bars, I’ve always loved figuring out what people need. (Always chocolate, always!) Before I even got out of high school, I had thought up countless business ideas, all related to publishing. By the time I got to my twenties, I was writing and publishing print books and magazine articles, copyediting and proofreading for a long list of New York City publishers and completely hooked on email and online forums.

I started real/brilliant, inc. in 1995 from my tiny corner office (8′ x 8′) and have never looked back (well, maybe a few times). I continued to write books and articles and to copyedit and proofread for the next ten years, and then in 2005, the social media bug bit. I could start a blog and just like everybody else I could bore the world with what I ate for lunch (um, chocolate!).

And yet, my blogging and social media addiction has only grown since. In 2007, I began blogging for business clients and in 2009, I helped several authors develop successful social media platforms that built their online presence, branded them as experts, and sold more books. Basically, this introvert is helping other introverts to go social!

In 2010, I will partner with Writer’s Digest University to teach social media strategy for authors. I’ll also be developing some of my own products and service offerings. If you’d like to keep up on the latest from this blog, plus the occasional special offer, sign up on for my eZine!

If you’d like to connect online, I’m on Twitter: @realbrilliant and I’m on email: realbrilliant at mac dot com. And real/brilliant [social media strategy] has a Facebook page (finally).

I welcome the opportunity to brainstorm anytime (on the blog or back channel) about how social media strategy can help you as an author.

Thanks for visiting!
