Maybe I’m just not used to it, but TweetDeck bugs the crap outta me. I even changed my custom colors, turned off the sound telling me when new Tweets arrive, and slowed the arrival of those new Tweets, but I just can’t stand using it.
1. It seems like monitoring security cameras, each camera on a different piece of the Twitter-verse. I feel like I’m on this perpetual scan of everything and I always just turn it off. I don’t like feeling that I have to monitor so much information. I hear people raving about how wonderful it is, but I think it might be too wonderful. I prefer Twitter.com’s feed. I jump in and out and it doesn’t seem as frenetic to me. Am I missing something?
2. I tend to ignore DMs anyway, so I feel like I just got one more email inbox to monitor. That is the last thing I need in my life right now. I just turned DMs off on TweetDeck and then promptly felt guilty for doing it. It’s too much pressure! Am I crazy?
3. I feel as if the larger white space on TweetDeck to type in updates beckons me (mocks me) to chain myself to Twitter. I don’t think anyone else has this issue, but I do! I am being mocked by this thing. Update me! Update me! All the fricking day long. What’s wrong with me?
Why do you all love TweetDeck? Please leave a comment and tell me why it is such a good idea for you. Perhaps some of that karma will rub off on me.

Ugh, I can’t stand Tweetdeck. I’m Tweetie (http://www.atebits.com/tweetie-mac/) all the way these days, and Nambu (http://nambu.com/) is another great alternative. Of course, They’re both Mac-only, but that’s just how I roll.
Thanks, Nathaniel. I am now a Tweetie user as well. I like it better already. Nice and clean. I don’t feel the same pressure.
Thank you!
Yeah, I don’t like Tweetdeck for the same reasons. I just use TwitterGadget and jump in and out of converation as I browse. I’d like to try Nambu but my ol’ G4 doesn’t run 10.5.
Anysia, yep, I’m much happier now that I’ve ditched TweetDeck. I’m using Tweetie and really like it. I’m glad you found TwitterGadget!
