Moonlighting Entrepreneur: How To Make a Joint Project Work

by Trish on March 11, 2009

You’re an introvert. You like to work alone. You avoid joint projects like the plague, especially as a moonlighting entrepreneur, because the day job requires you to work with inept folks who drive you insane.

Allow me to persuade you.

1. A joint venture as a moonlighting entrepreneur is not a forced joint effort. You don’t have to work with just anyone, especially not the pesky idiot from sales who wears too much cologne. You work with another person who’s just as passionate about your entrepreneurial dreams as you. This person you met at a conference or at the grocery store is really into what you’re into: knitting, writing, photography, whatever. This is a dream joint venture.

2. You can work on it for fun.
What a fun idea to work with someone you can actually relate to. Two heads are better than one. Instead of banging your head against the wall in frustration because you’re not sure where to go next, the two of you are able to brainstorm and come up with an even better approach.

3. You make better progress by working with someone else.
You can plan out your stages of progress and then when you come back together, you plan out the next phase. It’s like your own personal cheerleader for your pet project.

4. You can combine information, split the cost of supplies, even save money on marketing by sharing it.
It’s just a win-win. How do you find someone to joint venture with? Look online. The Warrior Forum has scads of folks who are into internet marketing, Facebook is a place to meet fellow photographers, and LinkedIn is the place to meet other professionals in your chosen area of interest. Reach out, meet someone new!
